“Blogging is like work, but without coworkers thwarting you at every turn.”
Creating and maintaining a photography site—even a personal one—is surprisingly a lot of work. Things never seem to fit the page the way you want them to. You constantly find yourself rearranging text and images randomly until something "clicks," and you achieve that look you didn't know you wanted.
Bald Eagle State Forest, PA, Fall 2024
After days of winding through the rugged backwoods, I found myself at Bald Eagle State Park in PA, where I traded the tent for a log cottage and a few more creature comforts. The park is a blend of thick forests, sprawling lakes, and enough trails to get lost in a few times over. Early mornings were marked by mist lifting off Foster Joseph Sayers Reservoir, perfect for some moody shots that even the camera seemed to enjoy as much as I did.

From there, I made my way up to Hyner View, a killer overlook worth every switchback and steep stretch. Watching the sun sink below the Pennsylvania hills from that high point was surreal, as was seeing a few paragliders daring the drop. Nothing but a big sky and rolling green hills below – the kind of view that reminds you why you bother lugging a camera everywhere.
So here it is, a mix of rustic cabins, misty lakes, and grand views from the state’s best perches. Still can’t believe these spots are just tucked away off the highways.
French Creek State Park, 2022
French Creek State Park is a eight thousand-acre Pennsylvania state park in North Coventry and Warwick Townships. This was the first camping trip of 2022 and it was still pretty cold at night.

Promised Land, PA, Summer 2021
A camping trip to Promised Land, PA. Packing light is not my forte, and years of playing Tetris means I can fit all of that into my Jetta. And, yes, those are a doorway rug and a luggage rack for my suitcase.
A camping trip to Promised Land, PA. Packing light is not my forté, and years of playing Tetris means I can fit all of that into my Jetta. And, yes, those are a doorway rug and a luggage rack for my suitcase. The suitcase is self-explanatory: unless you're backpacking, there's no reason to deny yourself unwrinkled and neatly-folded clothes. The luggage rack brings the suitcase to the same level as the gravity chair, so you can access items without getting up. And, of course, the gravity chair is just so much more comfortable than a blow-up mattress. So there you are.
